Welcome the Triad Advantage!

If you’ve been following our updates on the Piedmont Triad’s aviation sector, you know we have been buzzing about JetZero. They are the innovative company behind that futuristic "blended-wing" aircraft that looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Well, there is some big news coming out of their camp this week that signals they are shifting gears from "planning" to "doing"—and that is great news for us right here in Greensboro.
According to reporting from the Triad Business Journal and a formal announcement from the company, JetZero has officially named Scott Henry as their new Chief Corporate Officer.
Now, I know "Chief Corporate Officer" sounds like a fancy corporate title, but let me break down why this specific hire matters for our local economy.
Who is Scott Henry?
Scott Henry isn't new to the game of taking big ideas and turning them into massive realities. He brings over 30 years of C-suite experience to the table. His resume is impressive—he has held leadership roles at major tech and entertainment companies like Beats Electronics (yes, the headphones!), Magic Leap, and Las Vegas Sands.
He has a track record of helping companies navigate that tricky "scale-up" phase—taking a startup and turning it into a global powerhouse.
Why This Matters for the Triad
Here is the connection you need to know: JetZero has selected Greensboro as the location for its first U.S. manufacturing facility.
In his new role, Henry will be overseeing the company's growth as they prepare for two massive milestones:
The First Flight: Getting their full-scale demonstrator aircraft into the air next year.
The Groundbreaking: Preparing for the construction of their production facility right here in North Carolina.
Tom O’Leary, the CEO of JetZero, put it best when he said, "Scaling our company for the future is our biggest opportunity right now." By bringing in a heavy hitter like Henry, JetZero is sending a clear signal that they are ready to execute. They aren't just designing planes on computers anymore; they are building the corporate infrastructure to manufacture them—and they plan to do it in our backyard.
The Bigger Picture
This move reinforces the momentum we are seeing at the Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA). With Boom Supersonic already making waves and now JetZero staffing up its executive team to support manufacturing, our region is fast becoming the epicenter of next-generation aviation.
For us, this means more jobs, more economic development, and more reasons to be proud of the innovation happening in the Triad.
What Do You Think?
Are you excited to see these futuristic planes being built in Greensboro? It feels like we are watching history in the making. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Until next time, keep looking up!
