Welcome to Greensboro!
If you are newly planted in the Gate City or just looking for the perfect way to spend a warm Carolina evening, you are in for an absolute treat. One of the undisputed crowns of downtown Greensboro is First National Bank Field, home to our very own Minor League Baseball team: The Greensboro Grasshoppers.
Whether you are a die-hard baseball fan keeping score in the bleachers, a parent looking for an easy night out with the kids, or just someone looking to grab a cold drink with friends, a Grasshoppers game is the ultimate community experience. Here is why catching a "Hoppers" game needs to be at the very top of your Greensboro bucket list.
The Vibe: Downtown Charm Meets Summer Magic
There is nothing quite like walking up to the stadium as the sun starts to set over downtown Greensboro. The Grasshoppers are the High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, meaning you are watching tomorrow’s Major League stars playing their hearts out today. (Fun fact: Legends like Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Giancarlo Stanton all came through Greensboro early in their careers!)
But you don’t need to know the first thing about ERAs or batting averages to have a blast. The stadium is compact, impeccably clean, and designed so there isn't a bad seat in the house. The energy is infectious, the music is upbeat, and the crowd is a fantastic cross-section of the city—college students, young families, retirees, and young professionals all cheering together.
Wallet-Friendly Fun: The Best Promos in Town
Minor league baseball is famous for being affordable, but the Grasshoppers take it to the next level with their weekly promotions. You can easily get tickets starting around $12 to $15, leaving you plenty of budget for peanuts and Cracker Jack.
Here is the weekly lineup of deals you need to know about:
Two Dog Tuesday: Bring your appetite! You can score $2 hot dogs all night long, plus discounted drinks ($3 domestic drafts, $2 fountain sodas).
Thirsty Thursday™: Arguably the biggest weeknight party in Greensboro. Grab $3 domestic drafts, $5 premium drafts, $3 burgers, and $2 sodas. It is the perfect affordable date night or after-work hangout.
FANomenal Fireworks Friday & Saturday: Every Friday and Saturday home game ends with a spectacular fireworks show lighting up the downtown skyline. It is pure magic for the kids (and the kids at heart).
Family Funday Sunday: The ultimate family hack. You can grab the "Sunday Family Four Pack"—four tickets, four hot dogs, four bags of chips, and four sodas—for just $70. Plus, kids get to run the bases after the game!
The Real Stars of the Show: Mascots and Bat Dogs!
Forget the players for a second—the on-field entertainment is worth the price of admission alone. The team is hyped up by their lovable, giant green mascot, Guilford, and his swashbuckling pirate buddy, Guilly. They are constantly roaming the stands, posing for photos, and shooting t-shirts into the crowd.
However, the absolute fan favorites are the Grasshoppers' Bat Dogs. Continuing a

legendary Greensboro tradition, a highly trained, incredibly good black Labrador (currently the lovely Willie Mae) fetches the players' bats after they hit and brings them back to the dugout. Seeing a happy dog bounding across the dirt with a baseball bat in its mouth is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, no matter how your day is going.
Grab Your Tickets!
If you are new to Greensboro, there is simply no better way to feel like a local than throwing on some green and orange, grabbing a seat on the third-base line, and cheering on the Hoppers. It is safe, family-friendly, incredibly affordable, and most importantly—it is pure, uncomplicated fun.
Check out their schedule online, grab a ticket, and we will see you at the ballpark. Play ball!
